Post-surgical discomfort is described as mild to moderate and feels more like soreness or irritation than sharp pain. Swelling and tenderness are most noticeable during the first few days. However, we will prescribe appropriate medications and provide detailed aftercare instructions to ensure a smooth and comfortable recovery. Ice packs and loose clothing can also help ease symptoms during the initial healing phase.

In most cases, you can expect around four appointments throughout the course of your labiaplasty journey:

Consultation: During this session, Dr. Macias will assess your anatomy, discuss your goals, and create a personalized surgical plan tailored to your needs.
Pre-Op Visit: Ensures that you’re medically cleared for the procedure.
Surgery Day: The labiaplasty is performed as an outpatient procedure, typically taking under two hours to complete.
Follow-Up Visit: Approximately one to two weeks after surgery, you’ll return to our Marina del Rey office, where Dr. Macias will assess your healing progress and remove any sutures, if necessary.

Additional follow-ups may be scheduled, depending on your healing progress or if other procedures are performed in conjunction with the labiaplasty.

You’ll begin noticing an immediate difference in the appearance of your labia right after surgery, but keep in mind that swelling is completely normal and can temporarily obscure your final outcome. Most of the swelling resolves within the first 2 to 4 weeks, but full results are typically visible by 6 to 8 weeks after your procedure.

There’s also a slight chance that your physician could remove too much tissue, though that is less likely to happen if you select an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon.
