Vaginal rejuvenation can include a single procedure or a combination of surgeries, depending on the patient’s individual needs. The most commonly performed vaginal rejuvenation procedure is the labiaplasty, which is designed to reduce the size of the labia minora.

What is Labiaplasty?

Our Marina del Rey labiaplasty is a surgical procedure which reduces and reshapes the inner labia (labia minora). Our labiaplasty patients in Marina del Rey are often unhappy with the appearance of their vagina or complain of discomfort due to the size of the labia minora.

Why Choose Dr. Macias?

Dr. Macias is an internationally renowned, highly trained, double board-certified plastic surgeon with vast experience in vaginal rejuvenation procedures. He has helped countless Marina del Rey women revitalize their most intimate areas and restore a firm and aesthetically pleasing vulva with his customized approach to surgery.

The Procedure

Labiaplasty is an outpatient procedure that can be done under general or local anesthesia, depending on your preferences and Dr. Macias’s recommendation.

Usually, the procedure is done using the “trim technique,” which involves directly removing excess tissue from the labia minora and closing the incisions with sutures.

However, some women opt for the “wedge technique.” During this procedure, Dr. Macias will take a single, v-shaped wedge of tissue from both sides of the labia and then suture them together. This approach reduces the size of the labia minora while preserving its natural edges.

Know your options: Additional Vaginal Rejuvenation Procedures

Depending on your needs, Dr. Macias may recommend comprehensive vaginal rejuvenation that includes additional procedures beyond the labiaplasty. Here’s a quick look at some of these surgeries:

  • Outer labia (labia majora) procedures. These procedures involve reducing an enlarged labia majora or performing fat grafting to enhance the area.
  • Clitoral hood reduction. This surgery focuses on reducing the size of the clitoral hood in order to expose the clitoris.
  • Vaginoplasty. If your vaginal canal has become loose following childbirth or the natural aging process, this procedure can tighten the area.

Am I a Candidate?

If you are distressed by enlarged inner labia lips, a labiaplasty can reduce the size of this tissue and restore a tighter appearance. The typical candidate is a Marina del Rey woman who was either born with prominent labia or experienced changes to the area after childbirth.

Recovery

The recovery period for a labiaplasty can take anywhere from one to two weeks depending on the patient’s unique anatomy and the combination of procedures performed.

The incision is small and placed where it is nearly invisible to the human eye. You may experience some swelling or discomfort for one to two weeks after surgery. Full recovery, including a return to sexual intercourse and tampon use, is six weeks.

FAQ Labiaplasty

Is labiaplasty safe?

Yes, labiaplasty is a safe procedure. With that said, there are risks to be aware of. Though rare, they include bleeding, infection and hematoma. There’s also a slight chance that your physician could remove too much tissue, though that is less likely to happen if you select an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon.

Will I have scarring after labiaplasty?

Some scarring is inevitable with any surgery. However, labiaplasty scars are very discreet and will be barely noticeable once the area has healed.
