Revision rhinoplasty is a notoriously difficult cosmetic procedure. Also known as a secondary nose job, it is done to address issues stemming from a previous nose surgery.

What is revision rhinoplasty?

Revision rhinoplasty is designed to address aesthetic or functional issues that have arisen following a previous nose job. The most common reasons patients request corrective nose surgery is to address:

  • Complications
  • Breathing challenges
  • An undesirable cosmetic outcome

Why choose Dr. Macias?

When a revision rhinoplasty is necessary, your plastic surgeon’s experience is of the utmost importance. These delicate procedures are incredibly complex and require a skilled nose surgeon who is trained in the latest safety techniques and advancements.

Dr. Luis Macias is an internationally renowned, highly trained, double board-certified facial plastic surgeon with a special focus on rhinoplasty, revision rhinoplasty and septoplasty. Whether it’s your second or fourth revision rhinoplasty, you can rest assured that you’re in highly capable hands with Dr. Macias.

The procedure

Dr. Macias typically performs revision rhinoplasty procedures under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with IV sedation. Usually, he can keep all incisions inside the nose to avoid visible scars.

Through those interior openings, Dr. Macias will correct any cosmetic and functional issues due to your prior procedure. He will reshape and resize the nasal structure and may graft cartilage to the area if the nose was overcorrected during your previous surgery. When making all of these changes, Dr. Macias will use a conservative hand to ensure that your new nose is naturally beautiful and blends in with the rest of your features.

Recovery

Most of our Manhattan Beach patients need to stay home from work for two weeks following a revision rhinoplasty procedure. During the first few days, you will need to keep your head elevated and apply cold compresses to control swelling. Once the initial healing process is complete, you will return to the office so that Dr. Macias can remove your bandages and assess your progress.
