If large breasts are causing you pain and discomfort, or if they are contributing to a diminished quality of life, you don’t have to suffer in silence. Our Marina del Rey breast reduction can address these issues and create a lighter chest.

What is a Reduction?

Breast reduction is a surgical procedure that can help women feel more comfortable and confident in their own skin. If you are dissatisfied with the size of your chest, a breast reduction can create a more balanced figure.

Why Choose Dr. Macias?

Dr. Luis Macias is an internationally renowned, highly trained, double board-certified plastic surgeon located in Marina del Rey. When performing breast reductions for his patients, he focuses on achieving the individual’s specific aesthetic vision and correcting any discomfort, while shaping a light, firm, and more proportionate chest.

The Procedure

To begin your breast reduction in Marina del Rey, our team will administer general anesthesia to ensure your comfort and safety. From there, Dr. Macias will create an incision. The location options include:

  • Anchor. The traditional, anchor option involves incisions around the areola, down the front of the breast and along the breast crease.
  • Vertical. The vertical incision is made around the areola and down the front of the breast.
  • Peri-areolar. The smallest option, this incision is made around the areola and is only appropriate for women who need to remove a limited amount of tissue.

Through the opening, Dr. Macias will remove excess breast volume and reshape and lift the remaining tissue. If necessary, he will also resize and reposition the nipple and areola. Once your lighter breasts have been sculpted, he will close the incisions with sutures.

Recovery

The recovery period for a breast reduction is anywhere between three to four days. However, most of our Marina del Rey patients take a week off of their main activities. The sutures are dissolvable and do not need to be removed. Most women return to exercise at four weeks. By four to six weeks post-surgery, you should be fully recovered and enjoying your natural breast reduction results!

Am I a Candidate?

The ideal breast reduction candidate is a healthy woman who wants to reduce the size of a large chest. This procedure may be in your best interest if you:

  • Struggle with neck and shoulder pain
  • Can’t exercise properly or without discomfort
  • Experience shoulder indentations and skin irritation in the breast area
