Introduction
The eyes might be the window to the soul, but the skin around them? That’s where age likes to leave its calling card. If drooping lids or under-eye bags are making you look more tired than you feel, eyelid surgery in Marina del Rey might be the refresh you’ve been waiting for. At Aesthetic MdR, Dr. Luis Macias specializes in creating eyelid lifts for our Los Angeles patients that give you a smoother, brighter, more youthful look, without erasing your natural expression. It’s a subtle change that can make a serious impact.
Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is a common procedure where excess skin and fat pads are removed from either the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both. The procedure is quick and painless. Most importantly, eyelid surgery will allow you to look how you feel – fresh, awake, and confident!
Upper eyelid surgery, also known as upper blepharoplasty, is typically performed to remove excess skin or fat from the upper eyelids. This type of eyelid surgery usually involves tiny incisions in the natural creases of the upper eyelids, which shouldn’t result in any visible scarring. Dr. Macias then uses those incisions to remove any excess skin and/or fat that could be obstructing your vision, causing your eyelids to droop, or negatively affecting your facial appearance.
Lower eyelid surgery, also known as lower blepharoplasty, is a procedure performed to reduce the appearance of under-eye bags, dark circles, or puffiness around the eyes. It can also effectively eliminate fine lines and wrinkles from beneath the eyes. Dr. Macias typically makes incisions below the lower eyelashes in inconspicuous spots during this procedure to minimize visible scarring. He then removes excess fat, skin, and/or muscle as necessary to improve the appearance of the lower eyelids.

Eyelid surgery offers several benefits to individuals seeking to enhance the appearance of their eyes and eyelids. The main benefits of the procedure include:
Adults interested in enhancing the appearance of their eyelids could be good candidates for blepharoplasty in Santa Monica. To be an ideal candidate for the procedure, you should meet the following requirements:
The first step toward eyelid surgery in Marina del Rey is a personalized consultation at Aesthetic MdR. During your visit, Dr. Luis Macias will take time to evaluate your concerns, review your medical history, and discuss your goals for surgery. If you’re a good candidate, he’ll walk you through a customized surgical plan tailored to your facial structure and desired outcome. You’ll also have a chance to ask all your questions—because this is your journey, and you deserve to feel confident every step of the way.
Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure that can be performed under local or general anesthesia, depending on your individual needs. In either case, you won’t feel any pain or discomfort during the operation. To perform the procedure, Dr. Macias will rejuvenate the upper and/or lower eyelids:
Upper eyelid surgery: Dr. Macias will remove fatty deposits, tighten lax muscles, and trim away excess skin through an incision hidden within the natural creases of the upper eyelid.
Lower eyelid surgery: Dr. Macias can remove excess skin and fat through an incision along the lower lash line. If you don’t have any excess skin, the incision may be hidden inside the lower eyelid. Dr. Macias can only remove fatty deposits under the eyes through that opening.
Once Dr. Macias has rejuvenated your eyelids, he will close the incisions with sutures. You can return home immediately after surgery to begin the healing process.
After your Blepharoplasty in Marina del Rey, your incisions may be red and irritated, and you will likely notice swelling and bruising in the area. All of these effects will subside as you heal. For most of our Marina del Rey patients, these issues disappear within one to two weeks.
Dr. Macias will remove your sutures five days after the procedure. The next day, you can return to work and your normal daily activities, although you should refrain from exercise for two weeks.
