How a Facelift is Performed

The procedure

Your Santa Monica face and neck lift procedure will be completely customized to ensure that your unique aesthetic goals are accomplished. The procedures are done under general anesthesia to ensure your comfort and safety and typically take between three and four hours to complete.

During surgery, Dr. Macias will often perform a facelift, mini facelift, and/or neck lift in conjunction with fat grafting and blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), depending on your needs and desires. In addition, he may recommend specialized laser treatments after surgery to improve the color and texture of your skin.

You can expect a recovery period of two weeks after a face and neck lift in Santa Monica. During this time, you may experience some swelling and bruising. The first sutures are removed within five days, and the rest of the sutures will be removed by day seven, making you ready for the red carpet in two weeks.

Am I a candidate?

The best face and neck lift candidates are healthy, non-smoking men and women who want to look younger. It’s also vitally important that our Hermosa Beach patients have realistic expectations about what the procedure can accomplish. It can’t erase all signs of the aging process – but it can allow you to grow older with grace and beauty.

FAQ Face & Neck Lift

What will my scars look like?

Dr. Macias will place the incisions in discreet locations along your hairline and behind your ears. As such, any resulting scarring will be obscured and extremely difficult to detect once you’ve healed.

Can I drive after the procedure?

No, it is not safe to drive after the procedure due to the effects of the anesthesia. As such, you will need to arrange for a friend or family member to take you home and stay with you for a few days after surgery.

What’s the difference between a traditional and a mini facelift?

A traditional facelift corrects loose skin and lax muscles along the mid to lower face and neck. It’s ideal for patients who want to address more advanced signs of aging. Conversely, the mini facelift is best for men and women who want to correct earlier signs of aging, such as mild sagging along the lower face and neck. Contact us today and schedule a consultation for arguably the best neck lift or facelift Marina del Rey has to offer.
