Our Marina del Rey ear surgery is a simple, in-office procedure performed under local anesthesia. To begin, Dr. Macias will create an incision on the back of the ear or hidden within the natural folds of your ear. Through those openings, he can remove excess cartilage, pin protruding ears back toward the head, and sculpt a natural and more balanced appearance.
Once Dr. Macias has achieved your aesthetic goals, he will close the incisions with sutures and wrap your head with cotton bandages. You will be free to return home immediately to begin the recovery process.
Ear surgery is associated with a relatively easy recovery. You will need to wear bandages and limit your activity for about one week. The ears may appear bruised and swollen during this time, though these effects will disappear gradually.
You will need to keep your head elevated and avoid any activities that could impact the area until you have fully healed. This includes washing your hair with shampoo, sleeping on your side, and exposing your ears to extreme heat or cold. You will return to the office in seven to ten days to have your sutures removed. At that time, Dr. Macias will assess your healing progress.
If your earlobes are torn or stretched due to trauma, heavy jewelry or gauge earrings, Dr. Macias may perform earlobe repair in conjunction with otoplasty. He can easily correct the damage with very fine sutures, fixing any tears or stretched areas and restoring a natural appearance.
